Celebrating 10 Bright Years of LED Eco LightsPosted on 15 Apr 00:00 Read more

Bright Goods is an LED brand founded by LED Eco Lights in 2015.

LED Eco Lights is kick-starting April 2016 with a mix of new product launches, exhibition appearances, charity sponsorships, promotional give-aways and birthday celebrations to mark the company's 10 Year Anniversary.

Regarded as the early pioneers of retrofit LED lamps and luminaires, LED Eco Lights, was established in 2006, a time when LED was a new buzzword in lighting terms. Success arrived early for the company, when it was named as the LED Lighting Partner to the British Gas 'Green Streets' imitative. This ground-breaking project invested £2 million into helping Britain's communities to become greener. In the same year, the Co-operative Food Group embarked on its comprehensive stores 'energy refit' programme, selecting the company's Goodlight LED Tubes into all cold-store and refrigeration areas nationally.

As its Goodlight LED brand gained widespread acclaim for its product quality, reliability and technical expertise, LED Eco Lights was the first UK manufacturer to provide a comprehensive 5 Year Guarantee on all its LED lighting products - a competitive advantage which its rivals were forced to follow. These initial achievements were quickly followed by a number of high profile contracts including the iconic Thames Barrier, a national retrofit energy reduction programme for WH Smith which was the largest UK LED programme of its kind. Further significant contracts included a national roll out into Pets Corner stores plus LED installations into ESPO, London Brigade, Trade Team Distribution and many other sites.

During 2011, LED Eco Lights secured a contract to supply Goodlight LED High Bays for the British Airways World Cargo Centre at Heathrow. Over 1,400 LED High Bays were installed, making it the largest industrial LED project of its time. This ambitious energy-saving project was short-listed as Finalist for two awards: 'The Energy & Carbon Saving Award' and 'Lighting Project of the Year Award' by The Electrical Industry Awards. See more of LED Eco Lights Awards here.

By the end of 2013, LED Eco Lights gained national acclamation for its unique 3-in-1 functional Goodlight 2D LED Lamp which won 'Most Innovative Lighting Product 2013' at The Electrical Industry Awards. See all of Goodlight's Awards and Nominations here.

More success followed in 2014, which saw LED Eco Lights open an office in the Middle East after huge demand for their Goodlight LED brand was received. In that same year, the company celebrated its 4,000th LED installation.

The significant milestone was quickly followed by the launch of its two industrial focused hero products - the GX1 LED High Bay and the G360 LED SON Replacement Lamps - which were acclaimed across the lighting industry as serious game changers by Lux Magazine, voting both products as 'Top Lighting Innovations of 2015'. The GX1 LED High Bay utilises a unique phase-change enabled copper core which allows unrivalled brightness with low operating temperatures, and the G360 LED SON range, with integrated MagLev thermal cooling, makes them the brightest LED lamps of their kind, with the added benefit of being suitable for sealed fixtures, unlike any others.

In 2015, LED Eco Lights launched its Bright Goods LED filament lamp range in spectacular style, to the delight of interior and lighting designers, specifiers and light-focused artisans. Conceived to provide a timeless vintage feel, the wide selection of popular shapes including globes, pears, squirrel cages, candles, long tubes and traditional GLS bulbs, invoke nuances of Victorian nostalgia whilst offering 21st Century energy-saving benefits. The whole range is fully dimmable and supported by a 2 Year Guarantee.

Within one successful year, Bright Goods LED filament lamps can be seen up and down the British high street from Next fashion windows (Christmas 2015 Shop Window Displays) to Nando's, Burger and Lobster, Fresh Cosmetics, Fuller's Pubs, Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Jamie's Italian, Pizza Express, Selfridges and many more!

LED Eco Lights gained ISO 9001:2008 quality accreditation with BM Trada in August 2015, and launched its fifth LED Hero Product, the G5 Linear LED Luminaire (LED Batten), as the modern solution to replace outdated fluorescent fixtures.

Another significantly proud moment came later that year when LED Eco Lights was chosen to collaborate as the only lighting supplier for the popular DIY SOS TV programme by donating energy-saving LED lamps and luminaires. The two 60 minute episodes entitled The Big Build, Veterans Special highlighted the renovation of seven dilapidated homes to create three much needed homes for war veterans and their families. The work also involved the creation of a Walking With The Wounded advice centre, offering training, counselling and therapy to veterans who have been mentally and physically injured whilst serving their country.      As LED Eco Lights celebrates its 10 Year Anniversary, the company is determined to maintain its phenomenal success and continue its programme of new product launches. "The first ten years of LED Eco Lights has been a real whirlwind. It's been marked by a heady mix of hard work, long days and moments of total elation. We are thankful for all the support from some of the UK's most prestigious companies, designers, installers and distributors who use and love our trusted LED brands. As LED pioneers, we have achieved a lot in ten years, but are still brimming with new ideas, and passionately looking forward to the next ten years and beyond!" - Saima Shafi, Marketing Director of LED Eco Lights.

Bright Goods LED filament lamps rule the roost at Nando'sPosted on 14 Apr 00:00 Read more

As part of a major upgrade of lighting within the acclaimed chain of Nando’s restaurants, The Light Corporation specified Bright Goods LED filament lamps to replace the existing mix of halogen and tungsten filament lighting.

Bright Goods has supplied a selection of LED filament lamps from its wide range of popular shapes that includes globes, squirrel cages, candles, long tubes and traditional GLS bulbs.

“As the sole lighting designer for Nando’s, and after having previously tried and tested a number of LED filament lamps, we made the decision to recommend Bright Goods products. The main reason for this is that the quality of the product is far greater than that of other manufacturers both in terms of light output, colour rendition and build quality.”  - Darren Parnaby, of The Light Corporation.

Bright Goods LED filament lamps have been used by Nando’s since July 2015 when the first installation was completed in the company’s restaurant in Hove. Since then, numerous other locations in the Nando’s chain have benefited from these innovative lamps including restaurants in Rotherham, Newcastle, Southampton, Huntingdon, Canary Wharf, Birmingham, and Bristol.

In fact, this Bright Goods success story is not restricted to the UK but also embraces other prestigious overseas installations including an impressive Nando’s project in Deira City, Dubai, and others as far afield as South Africa.

Every Nando’s restaurant is designed to have its own distinctive ambience. This is achieved by bringing together a variety of balanced and complementary features including contemporary furnishings, durable floor surfaces, stylish wall coverings and, crucially, warm and welcoming lighting. This attention to detail often extends to embrace handmade light fixtures and fittings including Czech glass fluid pendants, metal cages, wooden shades and wicker baskets.

Nando’s are always keen to support small, local artisans who frequently use materials when manufacturing light fittings which can be unsuitable for traditional hot lamps. The nature of cool running LED allows almost anything to become a light fitting, broadening the possibilities for Nando’s lighting. Consequently, the versatility of the Bright Goods range means that the individual restaurant designs can be uncompromising and as spectacular as originally conceived.

This aspect of Nando’s design philosophy is recognised and welcomed by Darren.

He says, “We are fortunate that Nando’s embrace design variety and diversity within their restaurants and allow us designers the autonomy and freedom to come up with new and exciting lighting to enhance and add to the interiors.”

“We’re delighted that our LED filament lamps are proving to be such a hit with Nando’s restaurants and their customers. We’re constantly being told that not only do they look stylish but that they have captured the warm, cosy glow usually only found from energy-hungry incandescent. They are also recognised as being much more robust and reliable than tungsten and halogen lamps. Add to that their fantastic energy saving properties and it’s easy to see why more and more bar, restaurant and hospitality chains are relying on Bright Goods as their first choice.”Saima Shafi, Marketing Director at Bright Goods.

In Create Display's recent blog post, they discuss the Top 5 Trends For Spring 2016 from their visit to The Retail Design Expo 2016 earlier this month. The top 5 trends include:

    1. Sharing the Omni-channel Journey
    2. Technological and Customised
    3. Geometric and Metallic
    4. Rainbow Brights
    5. Upcycled, industrial and retro designed

We have been mentioned in the 'Upcycled, Industrial and Retro Designed' category - a hot trend right now - popular amongst television presenter and 'upcyclying' bargain enthusiast, Kirsty Allsopp. For the past year or so, the upcycled, industrial look has been trending - not only in restaurants, cafes, bars, hotels, but in homes, too. And as soon as you spot this trend - you see it everywhere! With each design space opting for a different look - bare bulbs, bulbs with braided flex, industrial cages, retro furnishings - they are all utilising this theme.

The Goat Grabs energy savings by its Horns with Bright GoodsPosted on 16 Feb 00:00 Read more

One of London’s most iconic watering holes – the Goat in Boots pub in Chelsea – reopened two years ago following extensive modernisation as GOAT. This new moniker heralded a massive transformation of a historic and traditional pub into an energetic and edgy hub that comprises a contemporary Italian restaurant, a large DJ bar and a hidden 1920s styled speakeasy, irreverently branded as the Chelsea Prayer Room. However, the venue has recently undergone a second metamorphosis with the installation of energy-efficient LED lighting from the acclaimed Bright Goods range.

Following GOAT’s original restyling, its many nooks, crannies and architectural quirks have provided huge scope for entertaining evenings - from private dining to cocktail master classes. Guests enjoy exotic surroundings where classic tiles, custom-made wallpaper and leather banquettes are key features throughout and the industrial chic of the restaurant is contrasted by the opulent bar and vintage speakeasy. However, the traditional incandescent filament lamps that helped create the overall ambiance proved to be costly to run and maintain.

With an ambitious energy upgrade planned for the building, Steve Manktelow, who masterminded the GOAT concept, was keen to establish whether any of the expense of the upgrade could be offset against future savings. Consequently, Steve discovered Bright Goods LED filament lamps online that he could simply retrofit into existing fixtures. Whilst harbouring a level of reticence towards LED lamps which he feared would produce a cool white light that would be inappropriate for the venue’s stylish interior, he ordered some samples.

Following a ‘real life’ trial, the team at GOAT were pleasantly surprised not only with the vintage look and feel of the Bright Goods LED filament lamps, but also with the warm, familiar glow re-created beautifully in LED.  They selected some of the most popular products from the Bright Goods range of LED filament lamps, including the Elizabeth, Rose, Catherine, Charles, Anne and Jane.  These exquisite lamps have complemented the sympathetic restyling of an old building and updated it with modern charm.  Importantly, whilst re-creating the nostalgic glory of incandescent lighting in LED, the Bright Goods lamps also provide ten times the lifespan and massive energy savings of over 70%.

Steve is delighted with both the appearance and the performance of GOAT’s new lighting.  He says, “The new Bright Goods LED lamps are a brilliant match for the incandescent filament bulbs we had previously. The warm glow of the old lighting has been re-created to create the same retro, vintage feel.  They have the same impact as the old Edison squirrel cages and other shape styles, so swapping them out has been seamless.  Having trawled what is available, these are the first LED lamps I’ve come across that retain the warmth of an incandescent, which was the real deciding factor.”
